ANDON Walk in Kimono
Why not take a stroll around Kawagoe at night wearing a kimono and holding an ANDON (paper lantern)?
Kawagoe, which developed as a castle town, is home to many traditional buildings, shrines, temples, and historical sites, including rows of storehouses.
In addition to these historical and cultural heritages, the atmospheric town of Kawagoe is bustling and attracts many tourists, as it is home to Toki no Kane Bell (selected as one of Japan's 100 Soundscapes to be Preserved) and Kashiya Yokocho (selected as one of Japan's 100 Fragrant Landscapes).
At this event, participants will take a stroll in kimono through streets that still retain the atmosphere of the Edo period, guided by the light of lanterns at dusk in the autumn evening.
Enjoy the atmosphere of the town, which is different from daytime.
After your walk, you will receive a prayer at Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine. Afterwards, you will be given a lucky charm.
In addition, the co-sponsored event "Koi Sake Kawagoe 2024" is being held at Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine. Please enjoy this event as well.
